What is a Perfume Primer, and how is it different from Perfume Fragrance?

A Perfume Primer is a molecule-focused fragrance that can be worn alone for a minimalist scent or layered underneath another fragrance. Unlike Perfume Fragrance, which is a complete fragrance composition, primers focus on materials such as Iso E Super, Iso G Super (Gamma) or Ambroxan.

What is the difference between Iso E Super, Iso G Super (Gamma) and Ambroxan, and which should I choose?

Iso E Super is the airiest and most transparent woody option and is a versatile starting point for fresh or understated layering. Iso G Super (Gamma) is deeper and more distinctly woody and can reinforce woody or deeper fragrances. Ambroxan is warmer and more amber-like. Choose according to the character you want to add rather than expecting one primer to suit every fragrance.

Do I apply Perfume Primer before or after my fragrance?

Apply the Perfume Primer first and allow it to settle on the skin, then apply your main fragrance. Start lightly and adjust the amount of each until you find the combination you prefer.

Can I wear a Perfume Primer on its own?

Yes. A Perfume Primer can be worn by itself as a minimalist molecule fragrance. Iso E Super gives the airiest, most transparent woody effect, Iso G Super (Gamma) is deeper and more distinctly woody, and Ambroxan has a warmer amber-like character.

Which Perfume Primer should I pair with my fragrance?

There is no single correct pairing. Iso E Super is a versatile starting point for fresh, clean or understated fragrances. Iso G Super (Gamma) suits a deeper woody direction, while Ambroxan works well when you want to add a warmer amber-like character. Choose based on what you want to add to the fragrance.

Can I layer two Perfume Primers together?

Yes. You can experiment with more than one Perfume Primer, but start with small amounts so you can understand what each one adds. For example, Iso E Super can add an airy woody character while Ambroxan brings a warmer amber-like direction.

Why can’t I smell Iso E Super strongly on myself?

Iso E Super can smell very subtle to some people, and your perception of it may change while you wear it. A softer personal perception doesn’t necessarily mean the scent is completely absent.

Does a Perfume Primer guarantee that my fragrance will last longer?

No. Perfume Primers are intended for layering and can change how a fragrance wears, but LeScent does not guarantee a specific increase in longevity. Performance varies with the fragrance, application, skin and environment.

Are LeScent Perfume Primers the same as inspired fragrance oils, and what are they made from?

No. LeScent Perfume Primers are molecule-focused formulations built around materials such as Iso E Super, Iso G Super (Gamma) and Ambroxan, together with LeScent’s perfume carrier system and supporting formulation materials. They can be worn alone or used for layering rather than imitating a complete designer fragrance.
